Our History

Agricultural Software Consultants, Inc. (ASC) was founded in 1979 for the purpose of writing and selling microcomputer programs for agriculture and industry. Working from the strength of linear programming, ASC produced MIXIT-2 in 1981 and built a related group of programs that easily calculate least cost rations from available feedstuffs while meeting the nutritional needs of livestock. The DOS programs MIXIT-2+ and MIXIT-3+ were created in 1985, and ASC's first MS Windows program MIXIT-WIN version 1, appeared in 1997. Over the years, ASC extensively modified the programs, expanded their range of applications, added animal data for nearly all types of livestock, and provided Spanish language versions.

The name MIXIT is synonymous with professional quality, user friendliness, free technical support, excellent documentation and low prices. MIXIT software and related programs have been purchased by thousands of nutritionists, feedmills, consultants, veterinarians, schools, beef and swine producers, dairy and poultry producers, fish producers, university researchers, farmers and ranchers in every state of the United States and over 100 other countries. These factors have made the MIXIT programs the most popular feed formulation programs in the world.

MIXIT software was conceived and developed by John W Hardy, Jr., PhD Mathematics. Various nutritionists are relied upon on an ad hoc basis. Miriam Green (BS, Physics) works hard at new product development, sales, and support.
